HILLARY ALLEN

Professional Ultra Runner for
The North Face

Course Record Holder,
Speedgoat 50K

About:

Running hasn’t always been Hillary’s primary sport. She started as collegiate tennis player and switched over to running once she stared graduate school back in 2012. She was drawn to the simplicity of running and quickly found her niche in trail/ultra running. Hillary ran her first ultra in 2013, only 2 short months after completing her first road marathon. She focused exclusively on trail running and ultra marathons, running her first 50 mile race in 2014 (where she set the course record). After a breakout season in 2014, Hillary (aka Hillygoat) realized she had the natural talent and competitive drive to compete at the elite level.

Hillary now runs for The North Face, traveling all around the world and country competing and exploring new trails. What keeps Hillary grounded is her love for what she does. Although she loves to compete and push herself to her limits, she runs because she enjoys it. She views every race as an opportunity to explore new trails and enjoy nature, while pushing herself to find new limits. When Hillary is not running she enjoys cycling, skiing, fast-packing, cooking and reading.

Coaching Mentality:

Hillary believes that achieving your goals as an athlete requires, consistency, flexibility, specific training and recovery. Her coaching mentality is based on her experience as a competitive athlete. Consistency is key to develop a strong base, a very important aspect of ultra running, as well as for injury prevention. She believes flexibility is key, to mold specific training and workouts to best fit an athlete’s environment. For example, Hillary loves to travel and explore, but she also wants to get her training in; so if she’s out climbing a 14er or trekking across Corsica on a day she needs to do a workout, she will incorporate a hard effort into her adventure. Training is a way of living for Hillary. She wants to help you reach your goals and push your limits, all while having fun.
