“the race is a test of endurance”
Today’s running lesson: Not all races are meant to be personal records. Sometimes it’s about other factors. Today it was about endurance and then having fun with my teammates.
As opposed to last week’s 44 degree run with 25mph winds, today it was 80ish, no breeze, little cloud cover and sort of like running through a bowl of chicken soup. I started with hopes of making it a PR and then just focused on enduring the discomfort and finishing the 10 mile run in as good of a time as I could. Was it my best run? No. Was it my worst? Nope. Did I enjoy it? Hell yes. I loved seeing teammates on the course and having the camaraderie of, not only the purpose of running but knowing that we are also running for a cause. I also enjoyed the company and cold beers that we shared when we finished!
Running to Make a difference in his community
I run for me. But I also run to try to make a difference in other people’s lives. Running with TEAM TO END AIDS (T2 CHICAGO) and raising money for the AIDS Foundation of Chicago gives me a stronger sense of purpose, knowing that each step I take is hopefully one step closer to a cure for HIV/AIDS.
